Terms of service
The agreement governing access to SayScope, including account, AI, credit and conversation-processing rules.
Version 2026-09-21 · Updated 21 September 2026
1. Supplier and agreement
SayScope is supplied by the person or entity identified on the Legal information page. Creating an account or accepting these terms forms an electronic agreement with that supplier. A user must be at least 18 and have legal capacity to agree.
2. The service
SayScope inspects WhatsApp TXT or ZIP exports locally in the browser. When cloud storage is enabled, new imports synchronize parsed conversation data and selected supported media to the account for cross-device access; older browser-only conversations require an explicit migration choice. The original ZIP is not uploaded. SayScope also provides search, transcription, attachment analysis, conversation questions, insights and generated Word or Excel files. Features, limits and supported formats may change. AI-generated material is assistance, not guaranteed fact, professional advice or an official record unless a qualified person verifies it.
The SayScope Android app is a Capacitor wrapper for the hosted service. It uses Android System WebView, the system document picker and share handling. App-store availability, updates and device compatibility may differ from the website. Any store terms that apply to distribution through Google Play operate alongside these terms.
3. Accounts and security
Users must provide accurate details, protect their credentials and promptly report suspected misuse. Accounts may not be shared in a way that defeats security, limits or pricing. SayScope may suspend access where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, a security risk, non-payment or a material breach, subject to applicable consumer rights.
4. Conversation content and authority
The user keeps ownership of their content and grants the supplier and its operators a limited right to process the selected content only to provide, secure and support the service. The user confirms that they are lawfully entitled to export, upload and process the conversation; have provided any notice or obtained any permission required from participants; and will not use SayScope to violate confidentiality, privacy, intellectual-property or employment obligations.
Users should avoid highly sensitive, privileged, medical, financial, children's or regulated content unless their organisation has approved an appropriate legal basis and safeguards.
5. AI processing
AI may misunderstand content, omit context or produce incorrect output. Users must check source messages and use human judgement before relying on an output, especially for employment, legal, financial, medical, safety or similarly significant decisions. The Privacy notice explains the transfer to OpenAI.
6. Credits, prices and payment
The free allocation and purchased credits are service-use units, not currency, cryptocurrency or stored monetary value. The billing page states the total checkout amount, credit quantity and transaction history. Live payments, when enabled, are processed by PayFast. Credits are added only after a verified server-to-server payment notification. A browser return page alone never grants credits.
Free-trial credits expire 14 days after email verification. Monthly plans grant credits after each confirmed payment; unused monthly credits expire at the end of each paid cycle and do not carry over. Separately purchased top-up credits do not expire. Sandbox credits have no monetary value.
When monthly subscriptions are enabled, a subscription renews monthly until cancelled. Cancelling stops future renewals, while confirmed paid-cycle credits remain usable until that cycle ends. Moving to a higher plan starts a new paid cycle immediately after the full new-plan payment is confirmed; unused monthly credits from the previous cycle then expire and the new plan's monthly credits are granted. Moving to a lower plan takes effect after the next successful renewal without mid-cycle proration. A failed renewal creates no new monthly credits; importing and saving chats stays free and any other available credits may still be used.
7. Delivery, cancellation and refunds
Purchased credits are normally delivered after PayFast confirms payment. If confirmation is delayed, the order remains pending while it is investigated. Cancellation and refund rights are described in the Refund and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms. Nothing in these terms limits a non-excludable right under the Consumer Protection Act, ECTA or other applicable law.
8. Acceptable use
The Acceptable-use policy forms part of these terms. Attempts to bypass authentication, AI permissions, credit enforcement, security controls or rate limits are prohibited.
9. Availability and liability
The supplier will use reasonable care but does not promise uninterrupted availability or error-free AI output. To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss that was not reasonably foreseeable. No provision excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability arising from gross negligence where applicable.
10. Termination and local data
When self-service account tools are enabled, Clear uploaded data removes the account's cloud conversations, messages, uploaded media, saved AI results and import records while preserving the account, login, billing, credits, subscription, legal acceptance and required security evidence. It also clears account-linked copies on the current browser after server verification. Legacy local-only records require the separate all-local-data action.
The self-service Delete account action requires password reauthentication and a deliberate confirmation. It signs the user out everywhere, cancels recurring billing immediately, allows a secure 24-hour cancellation window, then removes uploaded content and credentials and de-identifies the account. Cancelling deletion does not automatically restart a PayFast subscription. Unused credits are not automatically refunded. Financial, accounting, tax, refund, chargeback, fraud, dispute, audit, security and legal evidence may be retained in a restricted, minimised form where lawfully required.
SayScope cannot remotely erase an inaccessible or offline device. Backup and provider copies may remain until their applicable schedules expire or a legal or safety basis no longer applies; deleting active SayScope data does not mean those copies disappear instantly.
Request instructions remain available without the app on the public account and data deletion page. Account suspension or deactivation is not deletion.
11. Law, complaints and changes
South African law governs these terms. Contact info@sayscope.co.za first so the supplier can try to resolve a complaint. Statutory complaint and court rights remain available. Material changes will be versioned and may require renewed acceptance.
